Wheel hub removal
In the case of screwed, split wheel bearings, the hub and bearing are considered separately from each other. The difference between these wheel bearings and standard wheel bearings is that the wheel bearing unit is additionally screwed to the steering knuckle. Since the hub will be reused after the pressing out process in combination with the new bearing, unlike compact wheel bearings, the units must be separated in two steps
Step by step – easy removal – split, screwed wheel bearings
- To properly separate the wheel hub from the wheel bearing, attach the wheel hub puller to the hub using the threaded screws. Then the crossbar with the matching pressure feet can be placed over the puller and supported on the steering knuckle. The feet must be centred on the crossbar
- The spindle is passed through the crossbar and wheel hub puller and the wheel hub is removed so that the wheel bearing is exposed. The screw connections of the wheel bearing remain tightened
- Then the screw connections between wheel bearing and steering knuckle can be loosened. These screws are used to fix the wheel bearing puller
- The wheel bearing is now separated from the steering knuckle using the appropriate pressure feet and the hydraulic cylinder
